Benefits for Other Qualified Adults
In order to continue to recruit and retain high quality faculty and staff, West Virginia University is joining many of our higher education colleagues by expanding family-friendly benefits options to employees. Benefits-eligible employees now have the opportunity to extend some WVU-administered benefits to other qualified adults (OQAs) and children in your household.
Available BenefitsYour eligible Other Qualified Dependents may take advantage of some WVU-provided benefits opportunities equivalent to those offered to WVU benefits-eligible employees, such as:
- WVU Child Learning Center discounts
- WVU Employee Wellness activities
- WVU Faculty & Staff Assistance Program (FSAP)
- WVU Libraries privileges
- WVU Student Recreation Center memberships
(Please note, this excludes PEIA- and FBMC-administered benefits such as health insurance, dependent life insurance, dental and vision insurance, and flexible spending accounts, etc.)
Eligible Other Qualified Dependents will be issued WVU Employee Benefits Dependent Identification Cards to serve as proof of eligibility for participating services.

Eligibility
Other Qualified Adults (OQAs) are defined as individuals who reside with and are financially interdependent with the employee. For the purposes of registering an OQA for WVU-administered benefits, the individual must meet the criteria outlined in the
WVU Other Qualified Adults Guideline.
Enrolling Your Other Qualified Dependents
To enroll your Other Qualified Dependents, please complete a
WVU Employee Benefits Dependent Identification Card Application Form
and return to the WVU Benefits Office, along with copies of supporting documentation.

Canceling Coverage
Should the status of your enrolled Other Qualified Adult change, please contact the WVU Benefits Office to have them removed from your account as soon as possible.
