1. What are the retirement eligibility guidelines?
WV State Teachers Retirement System (TRS) and PEIA retiree medical insurance eligibility guidelines are:
- Full benefits at age 60 with 5 years of service
- Full benefits at age 55 with 30 years of service
- Full benefits at any age with 35 years of service
- Reduced benefits before age 55 with at least 30 but less than 35 years of service
- Disability benefits with 10 years of service
The TIAA-CREF and Great West 401(a) plans also establish eligibility to continue PEIA retiree medical insurance:
- Any age with 30 years of Service
- Age 60 with at least 5 years of Service
- Any age with 10 years of service if disabled
